This weekend we pretty much ate out the whole time. El Zarape x 2 (where we were treated to free flan…say that three times fast), Zensei Sushi, Whistlestop briefly, Hillcrest Sandwich Co. today, and finally we ate at home tonight. Jumbo fresh shrimp fried rice a la Zack. But of course, this picture is of the damn good lasagna he made the other night.

The recipe was a combination of several different kinds found online, but here are some good tips in general:

  1. Steam the lasagna noodles instead of boiling them beforehand
  2. Layer very tightly and neatly
  3. Sauté all the vegetables separately and get rid of any oils

    The result was a completely moist but not runny or wet lasagna.  Excellent.
